The San Francisco 49ers are officially off, traveling to Pittsburgh Friday afternoon for their Week 2 matchup with the Steelers. This marks their first road trip of the season. And it will be a tough one. They travel to face the Steelers this weekend, and then face the Arizona Cardinals in Glendale next weekend. They will return to Santa Clara in between the two games, but back-to-back road games are tough. Later this year, they will travel to Chicago and Cleveland in Weeks 13 and 14, with a return trip to Santa Clara mixed in.
The 49ers posted a gallery of photos as they were boarding their plane at the airport in San Jose airport. It looks like they will be flying United, so hopefully they don't have their luggage lost. Personally, I'm a loyal Southwest man. I like Virgin America and Jet Blue as well, but now that I am on the east coast, Southwest is my primary airline of choice.

The tweet is one of many NFL social media tweets lately that have referred to road trips as "business trips" in some form or fashion. I get that they are taking this seriously, and are looking to handle their business on Sunday. That's great, but it still cracks me up to hear it referred to as such. But either way, the 49ers are off, ready to get accustomed to being three time zones away. It will be interesting to see how they come out of the gates on Sunday.
