49ers-Steelers inactives: Jarryd Hayne, Mike Davis active, Bruce Ellington inactive

The San Francisco 49ers revealed their inactives for Week 2. We break down what it means.

The San Francisco 49ers and Pittsburgh Steelers released their Week 2 inactives, and it is not a surprise that Jarryd Hayne and Mike Davis are both active. Reggie Bush did not travel with the team, which opens op some opportunities for the backups. Hayne handled backup work in Week 1 once Bush went down. With both Hayne and Davis active, it will be interesting to see how they split work behind Carlos Hyde.

The 49ers are deactivating Bruce Ellington following an ankle injury this past week. Ellington practiced Thursday and Friday, but showed up with the injury on Friday. Jim Tomsula spoke about it before practice on Friday, but there was no further update, other than to list him as questionable for Week 2. He worked it out on the field earlier Sunday, but clearly it is still an issue.

DeAndrew White gets the activation in Ellington's absence, which opens up the return position. I could see Hayne handling punt returns and White handling kick returns, but we'll see.

49ers inactives: WR Bruce Ellington, RB Reggie Bush, CB Shareece Wright, G Brnadon Thomas, NT Mike Purcell, C Nick Easton and LB Corey Lemonier

Steelers inactives: QB Landry Jones, WR Sammie Coates, CB Cortez Allen, OL Chris Hubbard, TE Jesse James, DL L.T. Walton, DL Caushaud Lyons
