Reggie Bush ready to get back on field for Week 3

The San Francisco 49ers had to deactivate running back Reggie Bush in Week 2 due to a Week 1 calf strain. Now, it appears he is anxious to get going for Week 3. The team has been conservative in bringing back injured players, so we will want to keep an eye out for Wednesday's practice participation report. If Bush can get onto the field in limited fashion by Wednesday or Thursday, it will be a big step forward.

Getting Bush back on the field adds an element to the 49ers ground game that would certainly be a net-plus moving forward. In Week 1, he had a pair of rushes and was targeted once in the passing game. It as fairly limited before he got hurt, but given what we saw in limited preseason action, and what we heard from practices, maybe we see more from a healthy Bush.

Of course, that's the rub with Bush. He has played a full 16-game season twice in his nine-year career prior to this year. We just assume he will get hurt, and any contributions are viewed as a bit of icing on the cake. That's not exactly ideal for figuring out what the offense can do, but hopefully we see him in action this Sunday against the Cardinals.
