The San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals released their first practice participation reports, and this marks the most significant listing for the 49ers in the young season. The further we get into the season, the more injuries will be an issue. The team is in generally decent shape, but there will be some players to watch.
Reggie Bush ended up sitting out practice, instead working with the trainers. He says he expects to play on Sunday, so Thursday and Friday participation reports will be something to watch. I am skeptical he will be ready, but maybe he surprises us. A healthy Bush on Sunday would be a nice weapon to have.
Vance McDonald and Bruce Ellington will be guys to watch as the week progresses as well. Both were limited on Wednesday, and my guess is both end up listed as questionable on the final injury report on Thursday. If McDonald is limited or can't play on Sunday, Garrett Celek would be the No. 2 tight end, and Blake Bell would get work as the No. 3 tight end.
The Cardinals listed Mike Iupati as limited, which continues his status from a week ago. He had arthroscopic knee surgery in August, and sat out Week 1 practices and the game. My guess is he is listed as questionable for Week 3, and is a "game-time decision". I don't think he plays, but maybe his rehab is going faster than expected.
