Reggie Bush injury update: Jim Tomsula says 49ers RB looking really good, status still up in the air

The San Francisco 49ers will announce Reggie Bush's status for Week 3 following their Friday practice. We break down what this means.

The status of Reggie Bush remains undecided heading into the final practice of Week 3. San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula said Bush has looked really good in returning from his calf injury, but he would not commit to a status quite yet. The 49ers will release their injury report in a few hours after they wrap up practice, at which point we'll find out Bush's status.

It is worth noting that last week Tomsula used his press conference to declare Bush out for the Steelers game. The fact that he did not declare him out quite yet is certainly a step in the right direction. Bush said earlier this week he expected to play against the Cardinals. Tomsula said on Friday that while Bush is looking really good, if he's 80 percent or 90 percent, he would not play. The plan seems pretty clear that they want to get him back to 100 percent and avoid potential setbacks.

Bush has not practiced yet, and if he sits out practice again, it seems unlikely he will play. If he gets through practice, I could see him listed as questionable. If he cannot go in practice, I could still see him ruled out in the final injury report. My guess is Bush does not play on Sunday, but is back for next week against the Packers.
