The San Francisco 49ers return to action in Week 3 looking to rebound from an ugly Week 2 performance. The team travels south to Glendale to face the Arizona Cardinals. The game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. PT, and will air on FOX.
The 49ers are looking to rebound from an abysmal performance in Week 2. The team had some early opportunities to keep it close, but things quickly got out of hand. The 49ers offensive line struggled all day, and the red zone offense could not finish the job. The 49ers secondary and pass rush struggled to contain the Pittsburgh Steelers, and Ben Roethlisberger had a field day.

It is safe to say, the 49ers need to improve on their Week 2 performance. We don't really know what 49ers performance we can expect in Week 3. Will we see some version of the team that had their way with the Minnesota Vikings, and kept Teddy Bridgewater sufficiently flustered? Or will we see some version of the team that could not get out of its own way against the Steelers?
When asked to make predictions about this game, I look at this coming down to the offensive line and pass rush. It leaves me considering four scenarios:
1) If the 49ers can get a stable performance from the line, and get some measure of pressure on Carson Palmer, I see a slim 49ers win.
2) If they do neither, I see the Cardinals winning big.
3) If they get the line performance but not the secondary performance, we're looking at a winnable game that will easily go OVER the point total.
4) And if it is the reverse, we could see some ugly football in a low-scoring affair.
So there you have it, four scenarios I could see happening. This of course means I should be prepared for whatever is behind door No. 5. This 49ers team is a bit of a mystery for now, which could mean we see a mix of good and bad performances this season. This adds to the data-set, but it does not make this team any more predictable.
