It's game time! The San Francisco 49ers are back for their Week 3 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. The game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. PT down in Glendale, Arizona on FOX. The 49ers enter the game at 1-1, coming off an ugly loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Cardinals are 2-0, coming off a pair of relatively easy wins over the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears.
The 49ers need to figure out how to get pressure on Carson Palmer if they are going to win this game. Palmer has not been sacked through two games, and has the veteran experience to pick apart an opposing defense. He has three strong receivers in Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown and Michael Floyd. The 49ers will need to get pressure from their defensive front, or it could be a long day for the secondary.
On the other side of the ball, the 49ers offensive line needs to hold up if Colin Kaepernick and Carlos Hyde want to get consistency in the air and ground game. The line was solid against the Vikings in Week 1, but was thrashed with regularity in Week 2. Issues ranged from penalties to timing problems to general incompetence. The 49ers need more than that if they want to beat the division-leading Cardinals.
We'll have a few threads throughout the course of the game, and a recap immediately after. One thing I have added to the threads this year is the 49ers media Twitter list.
