Bobby Massie returns to Arizona Cardinals offensive line vs. 49ers

The Arizona Cardinals will welcome back at least one of their offensive linemen in Week 2. Bobby Massie returns from a 2-game suspension, and will be re-inserted at right tackle. He replaces Earl Watford, who had given up five QB hurries and four QB hits in the first two weeks.

Massie's suspension was due to a DUI that came in fairly odd circumstances, at least based on one report. Adam Schefter is reporting Massie knew he had too much to drink back in January. He parked at the Cardinals facility to sleep it off. A security guard did not recognize the car and called the police. Police arrived and saw he was intoxicated. Even though he was sleeping it off, I believe the issue was being behind the wheel. I think if he had laid down in the back of his car, he would not have gotten the DUI. So, as Schefter put it, the team inadvertently got him suspended. Obviously he deserves some blame, but it is still kinda random.

There is no word yet if Mike Iupati will play at left guard. Iupati had arthroscopic knee surgery in the preseason, and has been limited in practice the last two weeks. He was listed as "out" the first two weeks, but is listed as "questionable" this week. I think he sits this week, in part because plugging in two new guys might not be ideal for a line that has played well thus far. Or maybe they just take the plunge and get both Massie and Iupati in, take their lumps this week, and move on.
