Well, just as the San Francisco 49ers are about to wrap up their 2015 preseason schedule, the Jim Harbaugh era truly dawns on the University of Michigan. The Wolverines have travelled to Salt Lake City to face the University of Utah in a season-opening college football game. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT on FOX Sports 1. That gives you 90 minutes of Harbaugh before the 49ers kick off against the San Diego Chargers at 7 p.m. PT. You can view the TV and live streaming information down below.
I don't expect to have a game thread for every Michigan game, but I do not see how I cannot have one for Jim Harbaugh's first game. And if you don't want to talk about Harbaugh anymore, well, there is a whole lot of non-Harbaugh content on the site. For anybody else, this will serve as a game thread later tonight before the 49ers get going.
Michigan is coming off a 5-7 season, and Harbaugh is viewed as the savior coming to town. Utah is a 5-point home favorite in this one, also receiving more votes in the AP Poll (neither cracked the Top 25). If you choose to watch this game online at FOX Sports Go, there will be five different feeds, including a "khaki cam" that focuses entirely on Jim Harbaugh.
One of my favorite things about this matchup is that Utah is going into solid troll mode against Harbaugh. The school is handing out Alex Smith heads to help distract Michigan. Smith is one of the noted football Utes, and obviously we know his history with Jim Harbaugh. I'm pretty sure Harbaugh will not be distracted by it, but the whole thing still cracks me up. Here is a look at it:
