The San Francisco 49ers gave a lot of starters Thursday night off, giving them a chance to evaluate their reserves in the preseason finale. The team will make final roster cuts Friday and Saturday, and a lot of players that got a lot of work will potentially be looking for a new job sooner rather than later.
We're back for another breakdown of the snap count to wrap up the preseason. You can view the full gamebook here. Getting a lot of time in the preseason finale is not always a good thing, but it does not necessarily mean a player will not make the team. After all, Arik Armstead and Eli Harold both got a lot of work. It is not a perfect evaluation period given the lack of starters, but it is valuable to get the youngsters as much experience as possible.
Busta Anderson got a ton of work, and showed off some nice hands. He put together a solid final game on film, and it might be enough to get him claimed off waivers if he is released. Jarryd Hayne got the most snaps we have seen from him, both on offense and on special teams. He seems more of a sure thing to make the roster, but who knows how the 49ers might surprise us.
One player I am not sure what to make of is linebacker Shayne Skov. He had the fewest snaps we have seen for him thus far. He is on the roster bubble, but it is hard to tell what exactly the team thinks of him. He would likely need to beat out Philip Wheeler, who made his preseason debut with 21 snaps.
Here is your full snap count.
