The San Francisco 49ers did not wait around for roster cuts. The team got things going on Friday morning, releasing four veterans and two rookies. Three of the roster moves impact the 53-man roster projection I put together Friday morning. I was going to just leave it with that one, but since we have a break before more cuts, I might as well post a new projection.
I have removed Joe Looney, Darnell Dockett and Philip Wheeler following their departures. I replaced them with Dillon Farrell, Tony Jerod-Eddie and Shayne Skov, respectively. I removed Craig Dahl from my projection prior to the Broncos game.
I still think Kendall Hunter ends up getting released, so he remains off my projection. There was a rumor circulating yesterday that it already happened, but we have not heard further confirmation. I would have thought he would be released on Friday like the other veterans, but I guess not. The team still has 16 players to move to get from 69 to 53. Jerome Simpson will be formally placed on the Reserve/Suspended list, leaving 15 players.
Down below the roster projection, I have included a rundown of the full roster as it currently stands, including players cut. I have deleted the four players on injury lists as some people thought the strike-thru of their name meant they were cut. Hopefully no confusion now.
