The San Francisco 49ers filled out their ten man practice squad on Monday, signing offensive tackle Tanner Hawkinson. The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Hawkinson in the fifth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. He made his NFL debut in 2013, and appeared in three games in 2014.
The 49ers have done a strong job promoting players from their practice squad to the active roster, so it is not a surprise they might land a recent draft pick. The 49ers offensive line has some young talent, but a lot of questions. And considering all the injuries we saw last year, a 49ers practice squad offensive lineman has a solid chance of earning a promotion. Andrew Tiller is more likely to get the promotion, but we've seen anything can happen.
