Golden Nuggets: A Week Away

Game 1 of the 49ers regular season starts in one week on Monday Night Football. The NFL set up a good matchup for the game pitting the return of one of the NFL's star offensive players in Adrian Peterson and the return of one of the best defensive players in NaVorro Bowman. Both players missed last season due to very different circumstances, but they will be ready to remind the league what it's been missing.

On Monday, the 49ers announced that they will be wearing their alternate jerseys for the Monday Night game. The black jersey with the red lettering was introduced in April and the team didn't waste time in bringing it into game action.

The team also announced that a previous Bengals 5th round draft pick, OT Tanner Hawkinson, would be the team's 10th member of the practice squad. He joins QB Dylan Thompson, WR DiAndre Campbell, RB Kendall Gaskins, G Andrew Tiller, CB Marcus Cromartie, DT Kaleb Ramsey, NT Garrison Smith, OLB Marcus Rush, and S Jermaine Whitehead.

This offseason, the team went from being one of the oldest teams in the league to one of the youngest. Last season, they had one of the 10 oldest squads. With stalwarts like Willis, Gore, and Justin Smith gone, the team is now the 8th youngest team in the league. The average age is 25.8 years old. How these young players perform will be a big thing to watch this season.
