Golden Nuggets: Who Makes The 46 Man Roster?

Wednesday, September 9th, 2015 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet

There are some questions about who starts at certain positions on Monday night. While most starters have their places cemented for the game against the Minnesota Vikings, some places have stiff competition for who will play.

There is some discussion if Jarryd Hayne should take the kickoff/punting duties. Will DeAndrew White take the kickoff duties and Bruce Ellington take the punt returning duties? With only 46 players allowed to suit up on game days, it makes picking the players a little more complicated. Jarryd Hayne should handle the punt returning. Bruce Ellington is a very good returner, but his value comes as being the 3rd WR. There's no reason to have him handling punts when he's still coming back from injury when Hayne has proven to be a very capable returner. He could also handle the kickoff returns, but he only had 1 return during the preseason so it may be better to have DeAndrew handle that.

On the defensive side, there's still a question about who should be the starting CB next to Tramaine Brock. Kenneth Acker and Keith Reaser are the main competitors for that spot, but Dontae Johnson will see significant action. Both Acker and Reaser have played well in the preseason, but Kenneth Acker seems to be the one that should win the spot. He has progressed well from his rookie year and he looks like he could be a good corner for the team.
