Vance Joseph, Chris Foerster join Adam Gase, Dolphins coaching staff

The San Francisco 49ers coaching search is far from finished, but other teams are wrapping things up. The Miami Dolphins got a jump on everybody else by hiring Adam Gase last weekend, and he is quickly filling out his staff. Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that Cincinnati Bengals secondary coach Vance Joseph will take over as Dolphins defensive coordinator. The Dolphins also announced on Tuesday that former 49ers offensive line coach Chris Foerster had agreed to become their line coach.

The Joseph news is not surprising, but is worth noting. He was connected to Gase shortly after the Dolphins hired the Bears offensive coordinator. However, there were rumblings Joseph might hold out for the defensive coordinator job under Hue Jackson in San Francisco. That has all sort of fallen by the way-side at this point.

Foerster spent last season with the 49ers after five years in Washington. He interviewed with the Indianapolis Colts, and then talked to the Dolphins on Tuesday. He made a quick decision, and is off to his next job. The life of assistant coaches.
