Chip Kelly coaching staff: 49ers hiring Bob Bicknell as WR coach, per report

The San Francisco 49ers are expected to add another Eagles assistant coach to Chip Kelly's coaching staff. We break down the news surrounding Bob Bicknell.

New San Francisco 49ers head coach Chip Kelly is expected to add Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell for the same role, according to FOX Sports NFL reporter Alex Marvez. Bicknell was Kelly's wide receivers coach for all three seasons of his tenure in Philadelphia.

This news comes a year after the 49ers tried to interview Bicknell for Jim Tomsula's staff. Matt Maiocco suggested back then that Bicknell might be in the mix for the team's offensive coordinator role. Bicknell did not interview with the 49ers at that time. Early reports suggested the Eagles prevented him from interviewing, but an Eagles radio personality reported Bicknell turned down the interview, wanting to stay in Philadelphia.

Shortly before the 49ers fired Jim Tomsula, much of the speculation was that Geep Chryst might be fired. At the time, Matt Barrows suggested Bicknell was a name to watch for the team. Now that Chip Kelly is likely bringing him aboard as wide receivers coach, we can cross one position off the board.

Here is a rundown of Bicknell's experience:

2013-2015 Philadelphia Eagles Wide receivers
2012 Buffalo Bills Wide receivers
2010-2011 Buffalo Bills Tight ends
2009 Kansas City Chiefs Tight ends
