Golden Nuggets: Chip Dips into Coaching Bag to Fill Staff

Monday, January 18, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

With the big splashy hire of new head coach Chip Kelly out of the way, the business now turns to building his coaching staff. As expected, he will be dipping into his pool of previous assistants, with more than a few following him from his last job with the Philadelphia Eagles.

There's very little chatter on whether he will choose to retain anyone from the previous coaching staff other than Kelly speaking with Eric Mangini (ugh), but I think most of us would prefer that he doesn't. To be honest, the only competent coach I would even consider retaining would be RB coach Tom Rathman. Other than that the previous staff is a desert wasteland. So let's just let the vultures have them and move on with some fresh meat. Read about which coaches will likely be joining Chip in our links below.
