The San Francisco 49ers made a roster move on Saturday, activating running back Mike Davis off the injured reserve list. To make room for Davis, the team placed inside linebacker Michael Wilhoite on injured reserve.
Davis suffered a hand fracture, and was placed on injured reserve on November 7. The team used their single "return designation", which allowed them to bring him back this week. Davis returned to 49ers practice two weeks ago, and this week marks the time the team could activate him off the list.
His activation comes the same week the 49ers formally placed Shaun Draughn on injured reserve due to a knee sprain. Davis joins a running back group that includes Kendall Gaskins, DuJuan Harris, and Jarryd Hayne. Last week, Hayne got the most snaps of the group, with 35, and the most touches with nine carries and five receptions, for 47 total yards. Harris finished with 11 rushes and one reception, for 84 total yards.
