The San Francisco 49ers wrap up the 2015 season on Sunday, with pride and draft position on the line against the St. Louis Rams. At some point after the finale, CEO Jed York is expected to meet with Bay Area media to discuss the season that was. Expectations are that Jim Tomsula will get a second chance in 2016, but we won't know for certain until next week.
If Tomsula does get a reprieve, there has been speculation that other members of the coaching staff could be on the chopping block. I wanted to get some approval polls together before the season ends, because we don't know how quickly firings will leak out. Earlier this week, we had a vote on defensive coordinator Eric Mangini, and Friday we conducted a vote on offensive coordinator Geep Chryst.
Today, we're going to wrap it up with Jim Tomsula. We should find out no later than Monday or Tuesday what his status is for 2016. In the meantime, I want to see how he rates out among the fans on a scale of 1-to-10. It was an ugly season for the 49ers, as they currently sit 4-11 heading into their season finale. They were 8-8 a year ago, but had preceded that with three trips to the NFC title game, and one appearance in the Super Bowl. Their last four-win season came in 2005, and their last five-win season came in 2007.
There is no real guidance on this poll. Some will think Tomsula did poorly no matter what. Some might think he was saddled with problems from the get-go, and did the best he could given the situation. And others will fall in the middle. It's obviously a very divisive topic
So what do you say? On a scale of 1-to-10, what do you make of the 2015 job performance of 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula?
