2016 Pro Bowl rosters: Joe Staley, NaVorro Bowman will face off on opposing teams

The 2016 Pro Bowl takes place this Sunday, and it will feature two members of the San Francisco 49ers facing off against each other. Joe Staley and NaVorro Bowman were both selected for the game, and in the Wednesday player draft, they were selected by the opposing teams.

The Pro Bowl was changed recently to a situation where people vote on positions, and then team captains select players in a playground-style format. It means teammates often will face off in some form or fashion. This year, Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin are the opposing retired captains. Team Rice selected left tackle Joe Staley, while Team Irvin selected inside linebacker NaVorro Bowman.

The Pro Bowl will not feature blitzing or any exotic stunts or anything like that. We won't see Bowman blitzing on the Rice offensive line, but we might occasionally see them make contact on run plays. Maybe even a screen pass or two as well. I have to think at some point we'll see some kind of amusing moment between Staley and Bowman. The Pro Bowl is low key enough that players will find ways to have some fun even during the game.
