NFL coaching search live blog, January 6: Adam Gase making the rounds

We're back for another day of tracking coaching search rumors and news across the NFL. In case you were busy on Tuesday, Elpato put together a recap of everything notable that happened. We'll keep this article pinned at the top until the end of the day recap so people can keep track of everything of note across the league.

Fooch's update 10:17am PT - Hue Jackson's first interview is set:

On the 49ers front, things are off to a quiet start. We learned that Buffalo Bills assistant Anthony Lynn will interview with the team on Thursday in New York City. He also has an interview scheduled for Wednesday with the Miami Dolphins.

The 49ers are supposedly interested in New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, and we'll learn a lot more today. He is scheduled to have a press conference with Saints media at 11 a.m. PT. We'll have a live stream for that, as we might get a firm answer on his status with the Saints.

In the meantime, here is some other news around the NFL. It is a busy week for Adam Gase. He has three interviews scheduled, and is expected to get a second interview with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was reportedly close to landing the 49ers job last year, but something happened to scuttle that. Here is his schedule for the coming week:

The Browns are continuing their search, with a position coach scheduled for an interview. Position coaches are tricky to project out, but there have been successful transitions straight from the position coach rankings. Just not for the 49ers!

Here are a couple other interviews involving candidates not connected to the 49ers:
