The Dallas Cowboys apparently are deciding to mess with folks this week in a couple ways. The first is that a few hours after Jason Garrett said wide receiver Dez Bryant would not play, the wide receiver is listed as questionable. There was a late report that Bryant had not “ruled himself out,” but with no practice and a fracture in his knee, it seems unlikely he’ll play.
The Cowboys also listed quarterback Tony Romo as questionable. He has not practiced since getting injured in the preseason, and through three weeks was listed as out. Romo might be close to returning from his back injury, but I think we can safely assume he will not play this week. Even if he did return to practice, I do wonder if the Cowboys are reaching a point where they’re ready to turn this over to Prescott and cut ties with Romo. They won’t do anything with Romo during the season, but when the offseason gets here, a strong rookie campaign from Prescott could force the issue.
The Cowboys offensive line has some notable news. Left guard La’el Collins has been formally ruled out, while left tackle Tyron Smith is listed as questionable. Smith is dealing with a back injury that tightened up late last week and cost him the game. He has not practiced all week, so odds are pretty good he will also sit.
