49ers promote Je’Ron Hamm from practice squad, waive DuJuan Harris

The 49ers shored up their tight end depth for Week 4 with a roster move.

The San Francisco 49ers have made a roster move in advance of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. The team announced on Saturday that they have promoted tight end Je’Ron Hamm from the practice squad. To make room, they waived DuJuan Harris.

The 49ers made the move because of injury issues at the tight end position. Vance McDonald suffered a hip injury last week, and after missing Wednesday practice, he was listed as limited on Thursday and Friday. Garrett Celek suffered a back injury last week, and was listed as limited all three days of practice this week. Both are listed as questionable on the final injury report.

The 49ers acquired Hamm off waivers the final week of the 2015 season at the same time they placed Shaun Draughn on injured reserve. Hamm was inactive for that game. He was part of final roster cuts at this year’s training camp, and signed with the practice squad the next day.
