6 years ago, Jed York guaranteed 0-5 49ers would win NFC West

Pop the champagne, it’s time to celebrate an anniversary!

Facebook memories might be the best and worst thing Facebook has developed in the past few years. For those not on Facebook, most days, a previous post of yours will show up in your timeline, reminding you of the “anniversary” of the picture, event, or whatever is involved with it.

An NN reader got a kick in the junk earlier today on his Facebook memories! Indeed, it was 6 years ago, on October 11, 2010 that Jed York, following a 27-24 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, sent a text to Adam Schefter stating that the team would win the NFC West.

To be fair to Jed, the division-leading Arizona Cardinals were 3-2. Additionally, the 49ers would actually go on to win three of their next four to improve to 3-6. Of course, Troy Smith and Alex Smith split up starts for different stretches, and it became incredibly clear that Mike Singletary was in way too far over his head.

Jed is still one to occasionally text his national media sources, but since deciding to cut back on his Twitter usage, he’s avoided on-the-record repeats like this.
