The San Francisco 49ers host the New York Jets in Week 14, and it appears the currently struggling Jets will be without an importance piece of the passing game. The Jets have placed wide receiver Eric Decker on injured reserve with a torn rotator cuff. He suffered the injury in Week 3, and sat out the last two games.
It has been a pretty miserable season for the Jets, who currently sit at 1-4. They went on the road to beat the Buffalo Bills in Week 2, but have lost at home to Cincinnati and Seattle, and on the road to Pittsburgh and Kansas City. Those are four potentially quality teams, even with question marks surrounding all four. But Ryan Fitzpatrick appears to be regressing after having a career year last season. This is not exactly a shocking development.
I thought the Jets would be the second best team in the AFC East this season, but the 49ers Week 6 opponent, the Bills, appears to be grabbing hold of that mantle. The Jets and Dolphins both sit at 1-4. The Jets travel to Arizona this week, host Baltimore, travel to Cleveland and Miami, then host Los Angeles leading into a Week 11 bye. There are winnable games in there, but it would not be at all surprising to see them head into their bye at 3-7 or 2-8.
