49ers injury report: Jimmie Ward out, question marks on defense

New, comments

We break down the 49ers Week 6 injury report.

The San Francisco 49ers released their final injury report for Week 6, and as expected, cornerback Jimmie Ward has been ruled out with a quadricep injury. He did not take part in practice all week, and all indications are that he could return after the team’s Week 8 bye.

The 49ers held a walkthrough on Friday instead of a formal practice. Ahmad Brooks and Jaquiski Tartt were the most notable additions to this week’s report. It appears both left Thursday’s game with an injury, and were listed as limited all week on the practice report. They join Glenn Dorsey and DeForest Buckner on the list of questionable players. My guess is all four end up playing, but the 49ers defense is banged up to a certain degree.

One notable piece of news is the removal of Vance McDonald from the questionable list. After two limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday, the team listed him as a “full participant” for the simulated Friday report. In past years he would have been listed as probable this week. However, the removal of probable suggests he should be active for the first time since Week 3.
