Golden Nuggets: Any Positives For The Team

There were not many positives to take away from the 49ers loss against Buffalo. Even though the final score indicated a blowout, the 49ers were only down a score in the 4th quarter. In that quarter, the defense gave up 2 TDs in the span of 20 seconds with the help of a kickoff fumble that turned the score from 24-16 to 38-16. Colin’s performance was not very good, but he did look more comfortable in the pocket than he has in the past. He made plays with his feet that resulted in 1st downs. He will look to play better against the Bucs on Sunday at home.

The defense was brutal on Sunday. Defense coordinator Jim O’Neil tried to shine light on positives, but the product on the field showed there are none. Trent Baalke’s draft picks are non-producers or injured. They are on a historic pace to give up the most rushing yards in a season. Every starting running back they have faced other than Todd Gurley in Week 1 has rushed for over 100 yards on them. There are no signs that the team can turn around the gaping holes.

The 49ers play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, but they may be without Carlos Hyde. Hyde injured his shoulder in Buffalo and missed practice on Tuesday. He was wearing an arm sling, but no decision on his playing status has been made. If he is out, the 49ers would start Shaun Draughn or Mike Davis. Either way, it is a massive drop off from Hyde.
