The San Francisco 49ers released their first practice participation report of Week 7, and it offers some clues as to who will start opposite Tramaine Brock this Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Cornerback Jimmie Ward was back at practice on Wednesday, and he was listed as a full participant. Ward missed the past three weeks worth of practices due to a quadricep injury. The fact that he went from DNP to Full this week is a great sign for Sunday.
Of course, it is a necessary sign in light of Rashard Robinson’s concussion. The rookie cornerback suffered the concussion in the third quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Bills. He was a DNP on Wednesday, and will continue working through the concussion protocol. If he is listed as limited on Thursday, it will bode well for Sunday. If he is a DNP for a second straight day, it likely means he will not play.
Also, as Chip Kelly said before practice, Carlos Hyde was a DNP, and is not expected to play in Week 7. Hyde told the media he hopes to be back after the bye against the Saints.
