The San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys released their inactives for Week 4, and Vance McDonald is inactive with a hip injury. The 49ers promoted Je’Ron Hamm from the practice squad on Saturday, and he will serve as additional depth behind Garrett Celek and Blake Bell.
For the 49ers, Jimmie Ward is inactive after being ruled “out” on Friday. Keith Reaser is expected to start in his place opposite Tramaine Brock, with Chris Davis as the starting nickel back, with Rashard Robinson likely getting more snaps than normal this week as the primary cornerback off the bench.
On the Dallas side of things, wide receiver Dez Bryant is inactive. Bryant suffered a hairline fracture to his knee last week, and while people are starting to describe it as a bone bruise, he needs some time to recover. Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams will be the receivers to watch in Bryant’s absence, and of course, tight end Jason Witten will be plenty busy.
Left guard La’el Collins is inactive after being ruled “out,” but more importantly, left tackle Tyron Smith is inactive as well. Smith missed last week’s game with a back injury, and was unable to practice this week. His absence means the Cowboys will be playing reserves at both blindside offensive line positions.
49ers inactives: QB Christian Ponder, WR Keshawn Martin, CB Jimmie Ward, DT Tony Jerod-Eddie, OL John Theus, TE Vance McDonald, DT Taylor Hart
Cowboys inactives: QB Tony Romo, CB Orlando Scandrick, RB Darius Jackson, LB Mark Nzeocha, OG La'el Collins, OT Tyron Smith, WR Dez Bryant
