DeForest Buckner in walking boot after leaving game with injury

The 49ers rookie is expected to get an MRI on Monday. Hopefully it’s nothing big.

The San Francisco 49ers are the walking wounded after Sunday’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys. We know NaVorro Bowman is dealing with a potential Achilles injury. Additionally, defensive tackle DeForest Buckner injured his lower leg as well. He was spotted wearing an orthopedic walking boot after the game, and needed crutches to get around. Reports suggest he will get an MRI on Monday.

The 49ers will face the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday. Buckner could end up with no real issues for his leg, but even still, a post-game walking boot suggests he has work to do to be ready for Thursday’s game. If he is unable to go, Arik Armstead, Mike Purcell, and Quinton Dial would likely start in the base defense. Tony Jerod-Eddie has been inactive the last couple weeks, but if Buckner has to miss Thursday’s game, he would likely be active. And of course, Glenn Dorsey is working his way back into the rotation.
