49ers-Buccaneers score update: Colin Kaepernick, Mike Davis dominate in opening drive touchdown

Nice little start for the 49ers.

The San Francisco 49ers are without Carlos Hyde but that did not slow them down on their opening drive against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Colin Kaepernick and Mike Davis combined to lead the 49ers 75 yards for a touchdown and 7-0 lead.

Davis is starting in place of Hyde, and he had the game-opening touchdown, rushing four yards behind excellent pulling blockers. He had an eight yard run early in the game, and the 12 yards is only six back of the 18 yards he had entering the game.

Kaepernick is making his first home start since returning to the starting lineup, and he completed two big passes on the drive. He connected with Vance McDonald for 24 yards, and then 17 more to set up first and goal. The drive was also keyed by a 15-yard personal foul penalty on Bucs defensive back Chris Conte. Kap missed on a pass to Quinton Patton, but he hit Patton late.

The 49ers defense is now on the field, and we’re all hoping they can do something to improve on last week’s hideous 312-yard rushing effort by the Buffalo Bills.
