Golden Nuggets: Another Week, Another 500 Yards Of Offense Given

Tuesday, October 25th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from the Internet

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Another week, another offense torches the 49ers’ defense. In a common storyline for this team, they were holding their own in the 1st half of the game, but became unraveled in the 2nd half. Tampa Bay’s offense racked up over 500 yards of offense on the 49ers’ defense. Jacquizz Rodgers had 154 yards and averaged almost 6 yards a carry. Jameis Winston had 3 TD, 2 of those going to WR Mike Evans.

Colin Kaepernick started his 2nd game of the season, the 1st at home. The 1st series was very impressive. The offense walked down the field in under 2 mins and scored when Mike Davis ran for the TD from 4 yards out. After 2 consecutive punts, the 49ers scored again after taking advantage of an interception from Gerald Hodges. Colin rolled and found Shaun Draughn tip-toeing the sideline for the TD from 17 yards out. This all took place before the 1st quarter ended. After that, they would only manage 3 points for the rest of the game.

The 49ers’ defense has given up over 1,200 yards of rushing offense this season and there are still 9 games to go. They gave up a 100 yard rusher for the 6 consecutive week. They also had more injuries pile up. Rashard Robinson suffered a knee injury, Aaron Lynch has an ankle injury, and Arik Armstead also suffered an injury. The holes in the defense do not look to be solved anytime soon. Luckily for fans, there is a bye this week, which will allow a week and a half break before we have to see this team play again.
