We’re back for another week of Sunday Night Football. Week 8 Sunday wraps up with the Dallas Cowboys hosting the Philadelphia Eagles on NBC. The game kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT, with Al Michaels, Cris Collinsworth, and Michele Tafoya on the call.
The NFC East is really competitive this year, in a good way. In the past, we’ve seen all four teams struggling to reach .500. This year, 4-3-1 Washington is in last place. The Cowboys lead the division with a 5-1 record, and the Eagles are a game back at 4-2. The Cowboys are a five point favorite, and the public money is decidedly on the side of the Cowboys. I’m going against the public, and picking the Eagles to cover, and potentially win outright.
An Eagles win would be big for the 49ers. The 49ers are in competition for one of the top few picks in the draft. If they finish in a tie with another team, strength of schedule is the first tiebreaker. The team with a weaker SOS gets the edge. The 49ers played the Cowboys this season, but do not play the Eagles. We’ll be rooting for the Eagles to spring the road upset to give the 49ers a modest boost (well, decrease) in SOS.
