Good morning! The NFL wraps up Week 8 Monday evening, but the San Francisco 49ers bye week is effectively over. The team returns to the facility and begins preparation for Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints. Normal weeks involved practice on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. That will change this week due to last week’s bye, and we’ll have the schedule sorted out early this week.
The big news for the coming week is the NFL trade deadline. It passes at 1:00 p.m. PT on Tuesday. NFL trades are rare, but the 49ers have been rumored to be shopping wide receiver Torrey Smith and left tackle Joe Staley. I don’t expect either to be traded, but maybe the 49ers do some work to blow this thing up and start it all over.
The news from the weekend was the 49ers back-and-forth with the Santa Clara mayor over the use of public money for stadium operations and maintenance. The 49ers are expected to turn over some documents to auditors this week, which will hopefully lay to rest some of the many issues that have arisen over stadium operations. The local elections are on November 8, so I would not be surprised to hear some more yelling and screaming over the next eight days.
It’s a slow day for links, so feel free to drop in anything you can find, even if it’s more general NFL content.
