Golden Nuggets: Terrible News For NaVorro

The news that the San Francisco 49ers feared came down Monday. Their leader, NaVorro Bowman, has a torn Achilles and is out for the season. The return of Bowman from his knee injury sustained during the NFC Championship game in 2014 was a testament to his determination to get healthy and return to the football field. Hopefully he is able to recover from this injury, but it is terrible to see him go through another devastating injury.

NaVorro fell to the ground in the 3rd quarter on a non-contact play and the air left Levi’s Stadium. It was immediately clear that this was a serious injury. He hobbled off the field with help and took a seat on the bench. His fate was sealed when the cart came by and it was officially announced that he was out for the rest of the game. Monday was a waiting game to see what the medical diagnosis would be and it came back a left Achilles tear. The injury is on the same leg that he suffered his knee injury in early 2014.

The 49ers will miss the presence of NaVorro, but they will welcome the return of their best pass rusher, Aaron Lynch. Aaron was suspended for 4 games to begin the season and now is set to return this Thursday night against Arizona Cardinals. The pass rush has been lacking so Aaron’s return could help remedy that weakness immediately.
