How many games will Colin Kaepernick start the rest of the season?

We might see a change sooner rather than later.

The past 24 hours has been a crazy one for the San Francisco 49ers quarterback position. First, Matt Maiocco reported that some players wanted to see Christian Ponder get a shot at the starting QB position. Shortly after that, Ian Rapoport and reported that Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers were close to a restructured contract that would remove the future injury guarantees.

Matt Maiocco reported later on Friday that the two sides were still working out some details and it was not yet completed. The team does not return to practice until next Tuesday, which leaves time to get something done if the plan is to get Kaepernick in the starting lineup by next Sunday.

Restructuring the deal opens the door for Kaepernick to get back into the lineup, and of course, it could create room for a potential trade. Whatever the case, it seems like something is set to happen once this deal gets done.

Back in early September, Bovada set odds on how many games Kaepernick would start. They went with 2.5 starts for the OVER/UNDER. Back on September 24, I put together a poll asking when Kaepernick would replace Gabbert in the lineup. 22.52 percent (a plurality) thought it would be before Week 5 TNF. The next highest total went with during the bye week, and then next two totals (almost tied) split between leading up to Week 4 and leading up to Week 6.

With all that in mind, how many regular season games will Colin Kaepernick start for the 49ers in 2016? I’ve included a poll below.
