The San Francisco 49ers are kind of a mess in case you had not been paying attention. The team entered the offseason with numerous question marks, and with the team just over a quarter of the way through the season, there are not that many answers. For example, the team had questions at quarterback, wide receiver, and pass rusher, and we have not seen resolution at any of the positions.
Chip Kelly was brought in to revive the offense, but there’s only so much that can be done with the current set of players. The 49ers got off to a strong start in Week 1, but have come back to earth in a big way. We’ve seen some positives on both sides of the ball, but we have generally seen more negatives.
And so, it is no surprise that Matt Maiocco said there is no question general manager Trent Baalke is on the hot seat. National media will run with this as though it’s particularly notable, but I think most 49ers fans would acknowledge they can see Baalke on the hotseat.
If Trent Baalke ends up being fired, it will not be during the season. I don’t recall the last time a general manager was fired midseason, in part because any major roster adjustments are happening in the offseason with free agency and the draft.
There has been plenty of Baalke discussion, with this FanPost getting plenty of discussion. But I figured, how about a poll. And so, you can answer below with a simple yes or no. Will Trent Baalke be the 49ers general manager a year from now?
