Golden Nuggets: Will Trent Baalke override Chip Kelly’s decision?

Sunday, October 9th, 2016 edition of the Golden Nuggets, a daily compilation of San Francisco 49ers links from around the Internet.

So apparently the San Francisco 49ers are redoing the contract of quarterback Colin Kaepernick, something that Chip Kelly insists won’t actually affect the decision on who starts at quarterback. Kelly is adamant that decision is his to make and while I’m wary of Kelly having too much power thanks to the disaster that was his tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles, I hope what he says is true.

I mean... I know it’s not true, though. Trent Baalke has a problem with giving up authority, as we found out when he somehow found it difficult to work with a head coach who took the team to three consecutive NFC Championship games, not to mention the Super Bowl. And like Matt Maiocco says in his latest mailbag, Baalke is certainly on the hot seat this season.

Personally, I’ve had enough of Baalke. Get the deal done with Kaepernick, let him start whenever Kelly is ready to let him start, and then quietly get yourself fired at the end of the season, okay Baalke? Is that too much to ask?

Onto your links for the day.
