49ers snap count suggests Rashard Robinson right back in place to replace injured Jimmie Ward

We break down the 49ers defensive snap count from Week 11, and what it might mean for Week 12.

The San Francisco 49ers welcomed rookie cornerback Rashard Robinson back to the active lineup in Week 11. He suffered a sprained MCL in Week 7, and after rehabbing during the bye, and sitting out Weeks 9 and 10, Robinson returned and effectively re-took his spot over Keith Reaser.

Against the New England Patriots, Robinson played 35 snaps (45 percent of defensive snaps) and Reaser played 14 snaps (18 percent of defensive snaps). It was a rough afternoon for Reaser as he allowed four catches on six targets for 77 yards and two TDs, and had some poor attempts at tackling ball carriers. Much like Rashard Robinson’s ugly performance a while back, it was a wake-up call for a player who had done some solid things leading up to it.

Cornerback Jimmie Ward suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, and his status for Week 12 against the Miami Dolphins is unknown. The 49ers return to practice on Tuesday, but won’t release their first practice participation report until Wednesday. Ward must first be asymptomatic at rest. Once that happens he can put on the non-contact jersey. That will be something to track, as the longer it takes to get the jersey on, the less likely it is that he plays.
