The San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins released their inactives, and wide receiver Torrey Smith will be back in action. Smith suffered a shoulder injury in Week 10 and was inactive in Week 11, marking the first absence in his 5+ seasons in the NFL. Smith returns to start opposite Quinton Patton.
Cornerback Jimmie Ward is active, which means he has been cleared through the concussion protocol. He suffered the concussion last week, and missed practice on Tuesday and Wednesday. He was listed as limited on Thursday and Friday, but it would appear he has no concussion symptoms and is good to go. He will start opposite Tramaine Brock, with Rashard Robinson first off the bench.
The most notable inactive is defensive tackle Quinton Dial. He was listed as questionable with knee and neck issues after a week of limited practices. He had been listed as limited in Week 11 Wednesday and Thursday practices, but then got a full practice that Friday. This week, he was limited all three days. There has been no word on when he aggravated the injury.
Aaron Lynch is inactive for the fourth straight week due to a high ankle sprain suffered in Week 7. He has been practicing the last two weeks, but the beat writers have said he has continued to look a bit gimpy. He will continue rehabbing the ankle to see if he can get back on the field in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears.
