Quinton Patton returns to practice, wearing non-contact jersey

Considering Rod Streater’s performance in Week 12, the 49ers could have at least a little bit of depth at wide receiver.

The San Francisco 49ers are back at practice on Thursday, and they have wide receiver Quinton Patton back in a partial capacity.

Patton suffered a concussion in Week 12, and was listed as a DNP for Wednesday’s practice. Wearing the non-contact jersey with pads suggests he has been cleared for non-contact football activity. He will need to go through this workout and be asymptomatic to be cleared for full football activities.

The 49ers will release their Thursday practice participation report in a couple hours, and Patton will likely be listed as limited. They will conduct a walkthrough practice on Friday, and he will likely be listed as limited then as well, assuming he remains asymptomatic. If that all happens, we can expect to see him listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Rod Streater replaced Patton after he went down, and Streater ended up leading the team’s receivers in receptions and yards. He is likely to get some more looks on Sunday, but if Patton can play, snap count and targets will be something to track for the receivers.
