Two months ago following the 49ers Week 7 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers linebacker Aaron Lynch told the media, “We possibly have one of the best teams in the NFL. Easily. Hands down.” He talked about the 49ers strong start and what it showed.
On Tuesday, Lynch doubled down on his praise of the team. In locker room availability following practice on Tuesday, Lynch told the media, “I think we showed in the beginning of the game that we have one of the better teams in the league.” He acknowledged the record and stats do not show that, but instead focused on other things like, “the way we play together and we are on the field, I think we have a great team. We just got to keep building off of that.”
These comments are a little bit different from Week 7 because he sort of clarified he was talking about how hard they play. He continues to push back against the idea that they are a bad team. And while it’s great to have confidence, it still sounds a little nutty to say you’re one of the best teams. I’m not entirely sure what would be the best way to approach it, but that just doesn’t seem like it. But hey, if it gets him fired up for each Sunday, who am I to stop him?
