NFL: San Francisco 49ers at Miami Dolphins

The offseason is fast approaching for the 49ers. Sitting at 1-12, the 49ers will have a lot of rumors circulating around about the front office, coaching staff, and the draft. The biggest rumor had Denise and Dr. John York yanking control of football operations from Jed York and hiring an experienced football person to run the organization. Fans would be happy with this maneuver, but another report contradicted the statement. While Jed may stay in his current role, Trent Baalke and Chip Kelly may not be so lucky.

Trent Baalke has been a target for 49ers fans and media for awhile due to his draft picks and personnel decisions not paying off. His name will be in reports regarding his future with the 49ers, which does not look very promising. His draft classes have been less than stellar, but one player who is doing fairly well this season is DeForest Buckner. He currently leads all NFL interior linemen in snaps and is tied for the 49ers lead with sacks at 5. He is looking like a solid pick as a #7 pick in this past season’s draft and looks to be getting better each game.

Chip Kelly is also a target with this 1-12 record and the way his tenure in Philadelphia ended. His name was in talks to return to the Oregon football program, but they have since hired a coach. It is possible that Chip stays as the 49ers coach due to the organization not wanting to pay another head coach before his contract is up. If he does stay, he will need to find a defensive coordinator that can help this terrible defense and he will need to turn this team around in a hurry to last any longer as the 49ers head coach. Changes could be coming quickly to the 49ers as soon as the season ends.
