The San Francisco 49ers released their final injury report for Week 15, and there are no surprises. Wide receiver Torrey Smith has been ruled out, and left tackle Joe Staley is listed as doubtful.
Smith suffered a concussion last week against the New York Jets. He was immediately ruled out of the game, and did not practice this week. He said earlier this week that he lost consciousness during the play, and did not remember anything after it until he was in a car being driven home after the game. Quinton Patton and Jeremy Kerley will start on Sunday, and Chris Harper is likely the first receiver off the bench for three-wide receiver sets. Rod Streater and Aaron Burbridge will get some work as well.
Staley suffered a hamstring strain the Wednesday before the Jets game. He was listed as doubtful then as well, and is all but assured of not playing this weekend. Zane Beadles will start in his place once again, and with Daniel Kilgore done for the year, Marcus Martin will start at center and Andrew Tiller will start at left guard. Martin is the biggest concern of the group.
The 49ers had seven other players on the weekly practice participation report, but none are listed on the final injury report. For example, Colin Kaepernick was listed as full on Thursday and Friday after dealing with something related to his neck. He was not listed on Wednesday, so it either happened during practice, or maybe he just slept on it wrong! These players would have been listed as probable a year ago.
