With the San Francisco 49ers up to 13 players on the injured reserve (including Ian Williams’ settlement) the inactives list has changed slightly for their match up in Atlanta. Recent injuries and subsequent IR designations for Vance McDonald and Daniel Kilgore have created space for defensive convert Alex Balducci to assist the offensive line if needed and Je’Ron Hamm as the third TE.
No surprise with T Joe Staley or WR Torrey being inactive, but interesting healthy scratches for QB Blaine Gabbert and LB Gerald Hodges. Aaron Burbridge has been named as starter for Torrey Smith, Michael Wilhoite will get the start inside in place of Hodges and Christian Ponder will be the back up QB behind Colin Kaepernick.
There is a chance, if the score gets completely out of hand, that we get a look at Ponder leading the offense towards the end of the game.
