2017 NFL Draft order: 49ers cruising to No. 2

We break down what Week 15 meant for 2017 NFL Draft implications, and what to look for in Week 16.

The NFL wrapped up its Sunday games for Week 15, and the San Francisco 49ers continue their mediocre drive for the No. 2 pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The 49ers were thumped by the Atlanta Falcons and now sit at 1-13 on the season. They did not get any help around them, but given how this team is playing, the No. 2 pick should be there’s by the time the season ends.

San Francisco remains a game back of the winless Cleveland Browns (0-14), and a game ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12). The Browns lost 33-13 to the Buffalo Bills, falling apart after hanging close for the first quarter. The Jaguars lost 21-20 to the Houston Texans, blowing a 20-8 lead in the process. It was the proverbial straw that broke the came’s back, as Gus Bradley was fired following the game.

The Chicago Bears dropped to 3-11 with a 30-27 loss to the Green Bay Packers. They are two back of the 49ers with two to go, and strength of schedule is in the 49ers favor if they were to somehow win their final two games while Chicago lost their final two. Here is a look at the top six picks in the draft order, along with the strength of schedule standings, courtesy of Scott Carasik.

1. Cleveland Browns (0-14, .556)
2. San Francisco 49ers (1-13, .507)
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (2-12, .545)
4. Chicago Bears (3-11, .523)
5. Los Angeles Rams (4-10, .500)
6. New York Jets (4-10, .516)

Here is a look at the 49ers, Browns, and Jaguars remaining games with records. Our last “real” hope for a Browns win is this coming weekend when they host the San Diego Chargers. I don’t think Cleveland will win the game, but I can create a little bit of hope!
