The San Francisco 49ers opened this week against the Chicago Bears as either a 2.5- or 3-point underdog at most sportsbooks. The line dropped to a point midway through the week, and as we head into the weekend, it has dropped even further. You can still get the 49ers +1 at some shops, but for the most part, the game is now a pick ‘em.
The Bears remain a favorite on the moneyline, but the 49ers are now even money almost across the board in that regard. For example, at Caesar’s Palace where the spread is even, the moneyline has the Bears at -120 and the 49ers at +100. That means, if you bet $120 on the Bears to win, you win a $100, while if you bet $100 on the 49ers to win, you win $100. The spread odds are -110, which means, you have to bet $110 on either team to win $100. If you think the 49ers are going to win this game, you’re better taking the moneyline wager for the time being.
This will also be interesting for next week’s matchup against the New York Jets. The 49ers face the Jets at Levi’s Stadium, and we might see the 49ers favored in a game for the first time this season. The Westgate has look-ahead lines for Week 14, and right now, they would have the 49ers a one-point favorite against the Jets.
The Jets face the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football. If the 49ers can win their game in Chicago, my guess is we see them as a 1- or 2-point favorite at home against New York. If the 49ers lose and the Jets win, it could open at even or Jets -1. If both teams win or both teams lose, it could depend on how the games go down on Sunday and Monday.
