NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

There are no Pro Bowlers this year for the San Francisco 49ers. It was predictable considering the play of the team. They are one of 6 teams in the NFL that do not have a representative. Joe Staley has his 5 straight selections snapped. There are players such as Carlos Hyde that could get consideration, but it is unlikely. This is the 1st year since 2005 that they have not at least 1 player in the Pro Bowl.

Preseason star Marcus Rush was never able to make the 49ers roster from the practice squad, but he could get his chance with the Jaguars. The Jaguars signed Rush from the practice squad on Tuesday. Rush had 6 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception in the preseason. There was no reason given for why he wasn’t given a shot with the team. The 49ers pass rush is one of the bottom in the league and could have tried Rush out to see if he could generate a rush.

In other roster moves, Quinton Patton and Jimmie Ward are officially on injured reserve. WR DeAndre Smelter and CB Prince Charles Iworah were promoted in their place. They could make an appearance in the last 2 games of the season.
