49ers-Seahawks odds: SF a longshot in Week 17

The 49ers wrap up their season at home against the Seattle Seahawks, and it is no surprise they are big underdogs.

The San Francisco 49ers finally got a win this past week, snapping a franchise-record 13-game losing streak. The now 2-13 49ers wrap up the season in Week 17 with a home game against the 9-5-1 Seattle Seahawks. Seattle clinched the NFC West already, but has a shot at climbing from their current fourth seeded position to No. 2 with a first round bye.

The Seahawks has every reason to play their starters on Sunday, and so it is no surprise they are a sizable favorite in Santa Clara. Seattle has opened as a 9.5-point favorite, according to our friends at Odds Shark. The line has climbed to ten at a few shops, but either way, it’s a big number.

The 49ers have struggled against the Seahawks for some time now, with their last win coming at home in December 2013. They won that game 19-17. The last time they really blew out the Seahawks at home was their 33-17 win back in 2011, but even that wasn’t a blowout because two Ted Ginn touchdown returns opened that one up late in the fourth quarter.

The Seahawks get that hook of 0.5 points for now, but even if this game was 10.5 with the hook on the 49ers side of ten, I would not be looking to bet on them. The 49ers did finally win and will not become the first team to fail to cover the spread at least three games in a season. However, I don’t see them bouncing back with a second straight cover. I think they can make this a competitive game, but Seattle will still win by double digits.
