They will want to win Sunday’s game because it could affect their playoff scenario, so the 49ers will face an uphill battle.

The season has been rough, but one bright spot during this season has been the play of DeForest Buckner, last draft’s #7 pick. His play has picked up as the year has gone and he could have a bright future on the 49ers. He has 71 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries, and his 6 sacks leads all 49ers.

He could be in the running for defensive rookie of the year. He leads all rookies in tackles and has the 2nd most by defensive tackles in all the NFL. He has played the most snaps of all defensive tackles. He is 3rd in sacks for all rookies. He would be the 1st 49ers player to win the award since Patrick Willis won in 2007. DeForest Buckner could be a cornerstone of the 49ers defense for years to come as long as he continues to grow and develop.
